Helsingør (or Elsinore in English) is a port city in eastern Denmark best known for its Renaissance castle Kronborg, famed as being the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Apart from its historical relevance, however, Elsinore also has a vibrant present and promising future. The Culture Yard (Kulturværftet) - a strikingly modern glass and steel structure on the waterfront - is at the heart of city life, with its theatres, meeting spaces and exhibitions creating new opportunities for Elsinore's development.
