Musee des Beaux Arts

France > Lyon

Lyon's Museum of Fine Arts, one of the top sites in Lyon, occupies a grand 17th-century palace in the Place des Terreaux. Within, you'll find a massive collection of artwork by European masters including Delacroix, Rembrandt and Rubens. Expect to see everything from ancient Egyptian antiquities to Impressionist paintings and modern masterpieces. There's also an impressive collection of sculptures from Medieval and Renaissance times up to the modern day.

With exhibitions spanning over 70 rooms, we recommend spending a couple of hours here to see everything. If you're feeling peckish, the museum also has a lovely courtyard and cafe that's perfect for taking a break.
