Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site

Germany > Munich

Not technically in Munich but in Dachau (10 miles away from Munich city centre), Dachau concentration camp is best visited if you're in Munich. It is not a place for the faint hearted. Dachau was one of the first concentration camps to be opened by the Nazi regime led by Hitler in Germany - it later became a template for many other camps open across Germany and even Europe. A tour of the camp is a fascinating and sombre journey back in time. Visitors are invited to follow the “path of the prisoner” which replicates the awful arrival to camp which prisoners endured. Much of the original infrastructure and furniture still exists within the camp, so expect this to be a moving insight into a darker past.
