Gozsdu Udvar (Gozsdu Courtyard) is Budapest's unofficial entertainment district. Rows of bars and restaurants backed by inner courtyards attract crowds of locals and visitors alike every night, and the open-air Sunday market is a favourite activity in the summer months.
Located in downtown Pest in the 7th district, Gozsdu consists of seven buildings that were once part of the Jewish Ghetto in the 1940s. These days, stepping into the courtyard feels a little bit like stepping into a festival. Get into the spirit of things by hopping between the adjoining courtyards and mingling with the locals. Flashy signs and twinkle lights overhead add to the magical atmosphere.
