Located in the centre of town, this is Genoa’s picturesque main square - and no, it’s not filled with sports cars! The Piazza is actually dedicated to Raffaele De Ferrari, Duke of Galliera, who donated money for the expansion of the port in 1875.
The main feature within the square is the ornate round fountain at the centre, with jets that send water cascading down to the central basin. In the summer months you’ll likely see locals seated around the fountain chatting and enjoying the cooling spray from the water.
The fountain is surrounded by a number of offices and lively restaurants, cafes and shops, as well as the historic old stock exchange.
