The Trevi Fountain is one of the largest and certainly one of the most well-known fountains in the world. Located right in the centre of Rome's historic centre, you are sure to walk by a few times as you make your way between sights, restaurants and cafés.
Make no mistake, however, as you will not be alone in your admiration of the Baroque architecture or the grand statue of Neptune's chariot. Expect to see the place full of tourists pushing past each other to take a snap of themselves and their friends in front of the flowing water.
As every single tourist who ever visits Rome undoubtedly wants to come back, coins are thrown into the water from dusk till dawn due to the popular belief that returning to the ancient city is guaranteed once you've sunk your money. Over €3,000 finds its way into the fountain each and every day which the city collects and donates to charity.
