The Slovenian mountain town of Bovec is situated in a lush canyon on the picturesque Soča River in northwest Slovenia, about 130 kilometres from the capital Ljubljana. Surrounded by the Julian Alps as well as crystal clear lakes and spectacular waterfalls, Bovec provides some of the most beautiful scenery in the Balkan peninsula.
Just try not to fall in love with the striking emerald-green river that runs through Soča Valley and the stunning Triglav National Park. There's even a beach on the banks of the river (above) where locals and visitors bring picnics and blankets to while away the afternoon.
Look closely and you just might recognise Bovec Beach; this magical spot was used as a filming location for the 2008 movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
