Jerez is known for three main reasons - sherry, Flamenco and horses. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is dedicated to conserving the tradition of horse riding and breeding in the region. It also houses exhibitions focused on the history of equestrian culture.
Horse lovers, and those who are interested in traditional Andalusian life, can visit the Royal School to watch one of the daily horse shows, in which the animals and their riders do a choreographed ‘dance’ set to music.
There’s also a small, pleasant cafe on the grounds and lovely gardens filled with exotic and aromatic greenery to explore.
Note: The show takes place only on Thursdays during the winter, so plan your trip accordingly so as not to be disappointed! Book yours online in advance to guarantee seats.
